The James' journey from Vancouver, via Seattle, Victoria, and Jasper to Calgary.
The journey
It all started over a year ago. We have friends in Calgary and thought it would be be great to visit them. But if we were to travel that far we felt we should Do the Tour. Our first plan was a round trip from Seattle, via Yellowstone National Park to Calgary. Then we wondered where we would have time to relax. So after lots of research, greatly aided by our Canadian friends we have a new travel schedule. We will fly from London to Vancouver with a few days to recover. Amtrak to Seattle then on to Victoria where they are having the Tall Ships event. Hopefully we will have a chance to get close up to some whales. Then back to Vancouver to pick up a car and a drive over the Rockies to Jasper. Finally onto Calgary to stay with our friends and see the opening parade of the Stampede. I expect to take a few photos, around 600+ per day, so After the holiday don't expect to hear from me for a few months while I process them. You can see samples of my photographic work on my Flickr site and my Japanese travel pages .
This morning we discovered that we were totally wrong about the temperature while we were waiting in line at Jackass Pass. It wasn’t in the 80s, it was in the 90s. In fact at 2pm it was 95°F, at 3pm it was 99°F and at 4pm it was 102 (39°C). This was a record for the area.
